SUNDAY will certainly prove a milestone for one Bilton cricketer as he attempts to mark the end of his twenties with a performance to remember.
Wicketkeeper/batsman Paul Cannings turns the big 30, the same day his side travel to Calverley for a repeat of their rained off Waddilove Cup clash on Sunday (2pm start).
It promises to be a momentous occasion for the former Monk Bretton player as Carl Heptinstall’s side continue their march in the competition.
Cannings is looking forward to the game and desperate for some early birthday cheer to kick-off a big night of celebrations.
“I'm really looking forward to the game on Sunday,” said Cannings.
“The draw has been kind to us and there is a great opportunity to reach another Waddilove final. It’s disappointing that we got called off last week, especially when it was such a glorious day.
“Knowing it was my 30th the following week i had an eerie feeling that we would have to use the reserve day.
“I had planned to do the 50 pub challenge in York on Sunday but playing cricket at Calverley is a close second.
“We had a close game against Calverley a couple of years ago and I'm sure it'll be a good game on Sunday.
