Town backs breast cancer campaign with pink events

TO PROMOTE Breast Cancer Awareness Month, there are various events taking place in Knaresborough over the next week.
l Friday

The Hart, Market Place, Knaresborough, is having a Pink Party and is inviting everyone to get involved by dressing in pink. As well as special drink offers there will be prizes for the best dressed customers. From 8pm onwards.

l Saturday

The Knaresborough branch of Cancer Research UK is having a homemade cakes and preserves stall outside the Cancer Research UK shop in the Market Place, from 10am. Donations of cakes or preserves would be very welcome. For further information telephone 01423 860068.

l Monday

The Mitre, Station Road, Knaresborough, will be hosting a “pink menu” fundraising dinner in partnership with Cancer Research UK, Knaresborough. 7.30pm. The menu will be entirely “pink”, with a choice of three starters, mains and desserts. As well as prawn cocktail and pink salmon, there will be dishes such as beetroot risotto cake, cherry stuffed chicken breast and strawberry Eton mess. A welcoming glass of Kir Royale consolidates the pink themed menu, priced £19.95.

As well as a donation of £2.50 for each diner, the Mitre will make a further donation of £1 per head for every diner wearing a pink garment. There will also be a raffle. Booking is essential. Contact The Mitre on 01423 868948.
