HARROGATE Spring Flower Show, which opened its gates yesterday and will run until Sunday, is widely regarded as heralding the start of the gardening year.
And despite concerns about the country’s economic climate, ticket sales for the spring show have matched those for last year’s event, which attracted over 55,000 green-fingered enthusiasts.

This year’s show will include more than 100 horticultural nurseries, plant society marquees, floristry and flower arranging. Among the many unusual gardens on display is a design made entirely from recycled materials, and featuring edible plants.

The Show is taking place at the Great Yorkshire Showground. Tickets on the gate cost £14, or £12 for Sunday, with under-16s admitted free. Free car parking on site.
