FOR an evening of magic, mind-reading, comedy and fun, hurry along to the Frazer Theatre, Knaresborough on Friday, May 9.
Harrogate Society of Magicians will be putting on a two hour, fun-filled extravaganza featuring, among others, well-known local entertainers Bob’s Your Uncle and Daddy Long Legs.
Also taking part will be Mike Coyne, whom some may remember from the 1970s’ TV hit show, The Comedians. Other members of this impressive cast include James Ward, Clive Greenaway, David Hird, Clive Cullum, Marcus Hill, Henry Norris and Pete Brewster.
All proceeds from this event are going to The Frazer Theatre’s restoration fund and the Harrogate Society of Magicians’ Props fund.
President of The Harrogate Society of Magicians, Bob McBratney, said: “We are delighted to be involved in this one-off joint fundraising event. It will be an evening of fun and laughter for everyone, grab a ticket and come along.”
If that’s not enough, the society be aiming to shatter a record that’s stood for more than 50 years!
Back on Saturday, June 7, 1952, Brian Le Slie, and six fellow-members, set a club record in performing no fewer than 19 magic tricks in five minutes.
On May 9, members of the Harrogate Society intend to smash that record.
The team members (including the only surviving member from that famous night, Brian Le Slie himself) have been in training, are pumped up and ready to give that record a run for its money.
As well as stage entertainment, there’ll be refreshments and, some live close-up magic in the interval.
The show runs from 7-30pm-9.30pm. Doors open 7pm. Tickets on the door, £7 for adults, £5 for children (under 16) and those aged 60 or over.
The Frazer Theatre is just behind Woolworths, off the High Street, Knaresborough.
