Goals galore as Goldsborough take the title!

GOALS galore ensured Goldsborough Primary School emerged winners of a local football tournament held earlier this term.
Every year the Village Schools Cluster Tournament sees around ten teams from local primary schools take part in the seven-a-side football competition.

PE Co-ordinator at Goldsborough School, Becky Wilson said: “This year saw Scotton and Lingerfield School host the tournament in a two stage competition.

“In the final round involving four teams, Goldsborough School beat Kirkby Overblow 4-0, North Rigton 9-0 and Scotton and Lingerfield 5-1 resulting in our team lifting the winners shield.

“We’re all really pleased our youngsters won and they thoroughly deserve this success.”

The winning team was made up of pupils from years five and six.

Throughout the year pupils at the school have enjoyed taking part in an after school football club run by Miss Wilson and two parents. This term they have also had coaching from professionals at York City FC which around 25 children from years one to six took part in
