Free yoga for job seekers

UNEMPLOYED people in Knaresborough will be able to take advantage of free yoga classes this autumn.
The new term at the Yorkshire Yoga & Therapy Centre on Halfpenny Close, Knaresborough is offering unemployed people yoga classes thanks to a community grant.

Founding trustee-director Laura Bissell said: “We are delighted to have received a Commun
ity Grant part funded by the European Social Fund and co-financed by the Learning and Skills Council, which allows us to offer four new specialist classes from September through till next July.”

The new charitable classes at the British Wheel of Yoga approved centre will be as follows:-

Mondays - 11.30am till 1pm. Adults with Physical Disabilities (for those with some mobility who can get down to and up from the yoga mat without hoisting).

Tuesdays - 10.45am till noon. Parents and Toddlers (especially suitable for Lone Parents).

Thursdays - 11am to noon. Adults with Learning Disabilities (with full mobility)

Fridays - 1pm till 2.30pm. Relaxing Hatha Yoga (especially suitable for unpaid carers suffering from the stress of looking after relatives who suffer from disability or age-related problems).

The Able & Enabled class for wheelchair users will continue to be on Thursdays from 12.30pm till 2.30pm.

Leaflets about the new charitable classes are available from the yoga centre.

To be eligible for free tuition, you must be over 18, unemployed or working under 16 hours a week and be able to commit to the weekly classes through July 2010.
