TWO film-makers from Knaresborough are off to 'Hullywood!'
Vantage Point Films writer-director-producer team of Stuart Ramsay and Ben Thompson have been selected to show their debut short film at Glimmer, the sixth Hull International Short Film Festival.

The film Going Home was written to raise awareness
of dementia issues and Alzheimer’s disease.

Stuart and Ben both grew up in Knaresborough and attended King James’s School.

Stuart said: “Both myself and Ben had grand-parents with dementia so it was a very personal film for us to make.”

Going Home is about a man with Alzheimer’s disease who escapes from his care home and embarks on a courageous journey to get back to what he knows. Starring Pete Ivatts, a regular actor on Heartbeat, it was filmed in Harrogate and the surrounding area over a single weekend last autumn.

The film was self-funded and made with a budget of under £2,000.

Ben said: “Stuart and I used to talk and dream about making our own films back when we were at school, so it feels great to have finally taken our first steps into this exciting world.

“Vantage Point Films is named after the view from Knaresborough Castle.

“We’ve had terrific support from organisations such as the Knaresborough Players and businesses who supplied locations.”

l A number of preview screenings of Going Home were held at the Frazer Theatre, Knaresborough, and in Leeds and Harrogate.

l Going Home will be screened at Reel Cinemas, Hull, on Sunday between 5pm and 7pm, alongside the best short films made in Yorkshire during the last year.
