GOLDSBOROUGH Primary School has been delighted to welcome its new headteacher this term.
Matt Shillito is settling well into his new role and is pleased to have joined the team at the village school.
Earlier this month, he got together with pupils and members of the PTA to enjoy the new guided reading books the school has managed to purchase with money raised so far by the Friends of Goldsborough School (FROGS) PTA which is just under £1,000. This year, the Friends aim to raise over £3,000 so they can purchase the full set of books.
Sharon Brennan, from the PTA, said: “The guided reading scheme is where the teacher works with a small group on the same text, teaching early reading skills and developing pupils' reading fluency and working with younger children to develop a greater understanding of whole texts, plot, characters and setting with older, more proficient readers.
“These books are expensive so the FROGS are hoping to raise the money by holding events throughout the next year.”
