THE inaugural public concert for the new Chaloner Hall at King James's School, Knaresborough takes place on Saturday, November 24.
Harrogate Symphony Orchestra will be performing in the hall at 7.30pm with a programme that includes Tchaikovsky's Romeo and Juliet Overture, the Suite for Viola by Vaughan Williams and Rachmaninov's Symphony Number 2. Guest soloist is Zoë Mathews.

Bryan Western, Head of Music at the school and conductor of the Harrogate Symphony Orchestra said: "This is a very exciting new venue, not just for the pupils of the school, but for the whole community.

"We are honoured to be performing the first public concert in the hall, and have put together a really exciting musical programme.

Bryan added: "I am especially excited by the Symphony – it is pure emotive Rachmaninov with some stunning string writing. The orchestra love playing it, and I'm sure our audience on Saturday will love hearing it too!"

Tickets £10, concessions £5, are available from Pomp and Circumstance, Music House, Knaresborough Book Shop, Wetherby Book Shop and on the door.
