MAKE your way to Knaresborough on Saturday, June 14 to enjoy a 'grand day out' when the 2008 Great Knaresborough Bed Race take place.
Around 60 teams are expected to take part on the day and more than £40,000 made to help local charitable causes.
The Bed Race is a time-trial over a 3km course, with the long steep climb up Castle Ings Road proving a struggle for many teams, as is the dramatic and often hilarious swim across the River Nidd to the finish line.
This year's theme of 'Transport Through the Ages' should provide plenty of ideas for the decorated bed parade prior to the actual race.
At Conyngham Hall fields, there'll be plenty of activities and stalls for all the family with the chance to meet Sam Burgess, Bradford Bulls and Great Britain player.
In addition, there are prizes available to win including tickets for SuperLeague matches starring the Bradford Bulls or Leeds Rhinos and two VIP tickets to see England vs Ireland on October 10 in the Gillette Fusion International.
Knaresborough Lions, organisers of the event, are part of Lions Clubs International, the largest voluntary organisation in the world who aim to undertake welfare activities and raise money to provide help to those people in the community who are in need.
As well as Gillette Fusion, long-term sponsors Piccadilly Motors and Speedy Hire (formerly Hewden) are continuing their valued support of the Bed Race.
The Parade will start at 1pm from King James's School playing field leading along the High Street to Conyngham Hall. The actual race starts at 3pm.
